PTI Has Crossed Military Red Lines; Khawaja Asif

He criticized PTI for giving interviews to Indian media against Pakistan, stating that such actions naturally lead to hostile coverage and remarks.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that while criticism of the military is acceptable, the red lines must never be crossed, accusing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of violating these boundaries.

Speaking on a private TV program, Khawaja Asif said that PTI leaders have failed to support Pakistan’s fight against terrorism, do not participate in national efforts, and have even avoided attending the funerals of martyrs.

He criticized PTI for giving interviews to Indian media against Pakistan, stating that such actions naturally lead to hostile coverage and remarks. He added that Imran Khan is responsible for deteriorating conditions over the past four to five years, citing a controversial interview by Imran’s sister with Indian media as a decisive moment.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Army also commented, saying that one individual can become a threat to national security, thinking that if they are not involved, nothing else matters.

Khawaja Asif further alleged that PTI controls social media narratives in the country, and despite this influence, they never condemned harmful or anti-state content circulating online.

He emphasized that while criticism of the military by others is normal, PTI has crossed the line by openly opposing Pakistan’s fight against terrorism, in contrast to his party and others who maintain respect for state institutions even when voicing concerns.

This statement comes amid rising political tensions between PTI and state institutions, highlighting the sensitive nature of civil-military relations in Pakistan.
