Chaudhry Highlights Restrictions on Lawyers and Announces Petition for Open Trial

RAWALPINDI: – Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has written his third letter to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, expressing concerns over alleged election rigging in Pakistan. Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, revealed that the letter highlighted issues regarding the prioritization of the minority over the majority in the electoral process.
Chaudhry further stated that in his letter, Imran Khan pointed out that those involved in money laundering have been brought into power, emphasizing the negative implications for Pakistan’s democracy and governance. He added that the contents of the letter would be disclosed publicly later in the day.
Imran Khan’s lawyer also reiterated the former Prime Minister’s call for the formation of a judicial commission to thoroughly investigate the events of May 9. Faisal Chaudhry also highlighted ongoing political tensions, revealing that raids in Punjab continue even after the February 8 elections, suggesting ongoing political unrest.
Furthermore, Chaudhry mentioned the inclusion of Amir Dogar in the opposition’s negotiation committee and the addition of new members to the political committee. He raised concerns over restrictions placed on lawyers, particularly stating that lawyer Intizar Panjotha was not allowed to enter the jail or participate in the jail trial. He also announced plans to file a petition for an open trial in the GHQ case.

While the former Prime Minister has sought a change in policy in his previous letters to the Army Chief, security sources have denied receiving any such communication and expressed disinterest in reading it.
