PTI Announces Public Gathering at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on April 9

PTI Vows Legal Fight If Rawalpindi Rally Permission Is Denied

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  – (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced a big public rally at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi. The rally will be held on April 9. The party has made it clear that if they are denied permission they will go to court.

April 9 holds special meaning for PTI. It was on this day in 2022 that Imran Khan was removed from power through a no-confidence vote. Khan is now 73 years old and has been behind bars since August 2023. He and his party say all the cases against him are politically motivated.

PTI held a press conference in Islamabad on Monday. KP President Junaid Akbar spoke alongside KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other senior leaders. Akbar said the party will hold the rally no matter what. He added that if they are stopped at one place they will protest wherever they can.

CM Afridi also spoke at the conference. He said PTI workers are peaceful political people and not a violent crowd. He accused the PML-N government of trying to silence Imran Khan. He urged the government to issue the NOC and promised PTI would handle all the arrangements on its own.

Afridi also took aim at the government over rising poverty. He said 45 out of every 100 Pakistanis are now living below the poverty line.

Before the press conference opposition leaders had gathered in the National Assembly. They discussed Senate candidates and future protest plans. PTI chief Barrister Gohar, Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and other key figures attended the meeting.

After the meeting Barrister Gohar spoke to media. He said PTI will take the matter to court if Rawalpindi rally permission is refused. He also said the rally is simply meant to show that PTI stands for peace.
