PTI announces countrywide movement to ‘restore’ democracy, says Salman Akram Raja
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that his party will launch a countrywide movement seeking to ‘restore’ democracy in the country.
Talking to media in Peshawar on Friday, Raja said that this is not a one-day affair but a long-term struggle for constitutional and democratic rights.
He added that Imran Khan remains steadfast in prison and he will complete two years behind bars on August 5.
Salman Akram Raja urged the public to stand with PTI in its struggle to restore democracy in the country.
“We are sincere to this country. Listen to the voice of the people. We ask the nation to join us—this country should be run collectively,” said the PTI leader.
He appealed to the people to rise in support of the constitution and democracy, emphasising that party workers should be prioritised when awarding tickets, not those with financial influence.
“No one should be given a ticket just because of money,” he said.
He also expressed frustration over the difficulties in meeting the party’s incarcerated founder, saying, “It has become increasingly difficult to meet him.”
Highlighting internal party decisions, Raja stated that PTI’s political committee had recently finalised six Senate seats and confirmed that Mishal Yousafzai’s nomination came directly from the PTI founder.
“We try to ensure that tickets are given to those nominated by Imran Khan,” he said.
