PTA Simplifies Rules for Satellite Internet Services

PSARB Listing Must for Satellite Internet License

ISLAMABAD- (Special Correspondent/Web desk) PTA Brings Big Change to Satellite Internet Licensing

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a major policy shift, making it easier for companies to offer satellite internet services. Under the new rules, providers will no longer need to obtain multiple Local Loop (LL) licences for different regions.

One License for the Whole Country

As per details shared on Friday, a single national license will now cover satellite internet operations across Pakistan. This change is part of the Telecom Policy 2015 and aims to simplify the regulatory process for companies in the sector.

With the revised system, companies such as Starlink can replace up to fourteen separate Long Distance and International (LDI) licences with just one permit. However, only satellite internet providers registered with the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB) will qualify for this new licence.

Existing Licences Will Still Be Valid

PTA has clarified that the new licensing model applies to future satellite internet service providers. Current operators with LDI licences can continue their operations without any change, as their existing licences will remain valid
