PTA Launches IP and VPN Registration for Uninterrupted Internet Access
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a registration initiative for IP addresses and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to facilitate uninterrupted internet access throughout the country.
This initiative is aimed at freelancers, businesses, and foreign embassies operating in Pakistan.
The PTA emphasized that registering VPNs will ensure users experience stable internet connectivity and secure connections. Foreign diplomatic missions have been urged to register their VPNs with the PTA promptly to avoid any service interruptions.
The registration process is free and is expected to be completed within two to three days after the internet service provider has been verified. However, a fee will apply for users who need more than five IP addresses due to IP whitelisting requirements.
Moreover, servers located outside Pakistan that serve users within the country must also be registered as part of this program.
The PTA’s goal is to enhance internet usage while ensuring adherence to national regulations and safeguarding users against potential cybersecurity risks.
The PTA chairman stated, “The PTA is unable to manage the Internet,” adding that “by the end of October, the issue of slow internet will be resolved.”
