PTA launches crackdown on illegal IMEI tampering
IMEI tampering and the use of cloned mobile phones pose a threat to national security.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has launched a crackdown on illegal IMEI tampering and cloned mobile phones, during which mobile phones, DVRs and other items were seized.
According to details, the PTA Zonal Office in Abbottabad and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency carried out a joint operation in Haripur, raiding locations at Mochi Bazaar and GT Road, where mobile phones, DVRs and various other items were taken into custody.
The PTA spokesperson said three suspects were arrested at the scene and handed over to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. IMEI tampering and the use of cloned mobile phones pose a threat to national security.
