PTA Announces Five G Spectrum Auction Date for March Ten, 2026

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has announced that the Spectrum Auction for Next Generation Mobile Services, including Five G, will be held on March ten, two thousand twenty six. The finalized schedule comes after extensive stakeholder consultations and regulatory coordination, aimed at ensuring a transparent, smooth, and well-participated auction process.

According to the PTA, the confirmed timeline provides telecom operators and potential bidders with sufficient preparation time and reflects the authority’s commitment to optimal participation while meeting all procedural and regulatory requirements. Interested parties have been advised to review the Information Memorandum for NGMS and Five G in Pakistan and to stay updated through the PTA’s official website. Earlier, the auction had been scheduled for the last week of February two thousand twenty six.

The PTA also outlined the initial rollout plan for Five G services, stating that the launch will be phased and limited in line with global best practices. In the first phase, Five G will be available in major cities and high-demand areas, including Blue Area and F Ten in Islamabad, Defence and Clifton in Karachi, and key commercial hubs in Lahore and other provincial capitals.

Under the rollout conditions, mobile operators will be required to deploy Five G services on at least ten percent of their existing network sites during the first year. Coverage will gradually expand based on market demand, device availability, and user capacity. The PTA noted that where available, Five G speeds will be up to fourteen to fifteen times faster than current networks, while users in non-Five G areas will continue to benefit from enhanced Four G services, emphasizing that the initiative aims to improve overall mobile internet quality across Pakistan, not just speed.
