Islamabad-A fire erupted at Serena hotel in Islamabad’s Red Zone, housing Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams, on Friday. Authorities report the fire originated in the hotel’s fifth-floor cooling system. Six firefighting vehicles and 50 firefighters extinguished the blaze, according to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The CDA Director of Emergency, Zafar Iqbal, said: “Six firefighting vehicles and 50 firefighters participated in the operation to extinguish the fire.”
“The fire was extinguished within half an hour,” he added.
Pakistan Super League CEO, Salman Naseer, said: “None of the players or franchises faced any difficulties. The fire was extinguished on time. It did not spread to the interior of the hotel.”
“The fire brigade teams launched their operation to extinguish the fire promptly,” Naseer added.
It is pertinent to note that defending champions Islamabad United will take on two-time champions Lahore Qalandars in the opener of the tenth edition of the domestic marquee tournament.
