PSL Makes History as First-Ever Players Auction Begins

Faheem Ashraf tops PSL historic auction

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Super League (PSL) created history as it held its first-ever players auction, replacing the traditional draft system. The auction ceremony took place at the Expo Centre Lahore for the upcoming season, which now features eight teams.

In the first lot of all-rounders, Faheem Ashraf was bought by Islamabad United for Rs 85 million (8 crore 50 lakh). However, players including Imad Wasim, Mohammad Junaid, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Hussain Talat, Asif Afridi, Danish Aziz, and Mohammad Zeeshan went unsold.

In the second lot, Australia’s David Warner was snapped up by Karachi Kings for Rs 79 million, while former South African batter Rilee Rossouw was picked by Quetta Gladiators for Rs 55.5 million. Jahanzeb Sultan was bought by Sialkot Stallions for Rs 6 million. Players such as Colin Munro, Umair Bin Yousuf, Kamran Ghulam, George Munsey, and Saud Shakeel remained unsold.

During the third lot, Mohammad Ali was acquired by Hyderabad for Rs 21.5 million, while Haris Rauf was retained by Lahore Qalandars for Rs 76 million. England’s Chris Jordan did not attract any bids.

Additionally, Naseem Shah was purchased by Rawalpindi for Rs 86.5 million, and wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan joined Karachi Kings for Rs 32.5 million. Aggressive all-rounder Sahibzada Farhan was picked by Sialkot Stallions for Rs 57 million.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hasnain and Rumman Raees also went unsold.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the auction ceremony and was warmly welcomed by franchise owners. He presented special customized “Markhor” T20 World Cup 2026 jerseys to franchise representatives as gifts.
