PSL 11 Announces Silver, Emerging Retentions Ahead Auction

PCB Confirms PSL 11 Player Retentions, Auction Rules, Dates

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Tuesday announced player retentions and renewals in the Silver and Emerging categories ahead of its landmark auction scheduled for February 11, as the league gears up for its 11th season. The updated lists, shared via PSL’s official platforms, include players who have previously featured in the tournament, confirmed by the six existing franchises under the revised retention framework.

In the Silver category, Islamabad United retained Mohammad Faiz and Haneen Shah, while Peshawar Zalmi kept Arif Yaqoob and Mehran Mumtaz. Karachi Kings selected Mirza Mamoon Imtiaz, Quetta Gladiators retained Ali Majid, and Lahore Qalandars held on to Mohammad Akhlaq, Mohammad Naeem, and Mohammad Aazib. Multan Sultans retained Yasir Khan, Aamer Barkat, Mohammad Junaid, Mohammad Altaf, Ali Imran, Jahanzeb Sultan, and Ubaid Shah.

In the Emerging category, Islamabad United retained Saad Masood, Mohammad Shahzad, and wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghouri, while Karachi Kings kept pacers Riazullah and Fawad Ali along with Saad Baig. Peshawar Zalmi retained opening batter Abdullah Fazal, fast bowler Ali Raza, and Maaz Sadaqat, and Lahore Qalandars named left-arm wrist spinner Momin Qamar as their sole emerging retention. Multan Sultans retained Shahid Aziz and Mohammad Zulkifal, while Quetta Gladiators retained Mohammad Zeeshan and Shamyl Hussain.

PSL 11: Local Players See Category Changes

PSL 11 will be the first edition in league history to select players via an auction instead of a draft. Under the new rules, each franchise can retain a maximum of four players, with only one retention per category — down from eight in previous seasons. Mentor, brand ambassador, and Right to Match (RTM) clauses have been abolished, simplifying the squad-building process and improving competitive balance and player earnings.

Two newly inducted franchises, Hyderabad and Sialkot, will be allowed to select four players from the available pool prior to the auction. Additionally, each team can directly sign one foreign player who did not participate in PSL 10. PSL 11 will begin on March 26, 2026, and Faisalabad will join Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi as the league’s fifth host city.
