Rawalpindi – In a historic showdown in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Peshawar Zalmi thrashed Multan Sultans by a massive 120-run margin – the largest victory in terms of runs in PSL history.

This was Multan Sultans’ third loss of the tournament, while it marked Peshawar Zalmi’s first win in the current season. This match was the 17th PSL clash between the two sides, with Multan having won 11 and Zalmi 6 so far.

At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday night, Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a formidable total of 227/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Multan Sultans were bowled out for 107 in just 15.5 overs.

Zalmi had a shaky start, losing openers Saim Ayub and Babar Azam early for just 2 runs each, dismissed by Michael Bracewell and David Willey respectively. Babar Azam’s poor form continued, with scores of 0, 1, and 2 in his last three matches.

After an early collapse at 5/2, Mohammad Haris and Tom Kohler-Cadmore steadied the innings with a crucial 79-run stand. Cadmore played an aggressive knock of 52 off just 27 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours. Haris contributed a solid 45 with 3 sixes and 4 boundaries.

The middle order capitalized on the foundation with key contributions – Hussain Talat scored 37 off 24, Mitchell Owen hit 34 off 15 with 4 sixes, and Abdul Samad smashed a rapid 40 off just 14 balls, featuring 3 sixes and 4 fours.

Multan’s bowling effort saw David Willey, Michael Bracewell, and Ubaid Shah taking two wickets each.

Chasing 228, Multan Sultans struggled from the outset. Captain Mohammad Rizwan made 15 before being caught by Luke Wood off Saim Ayub. A brief partnership between Usman Khan and Shai Hope pushed the score to 63, but Hope fell for 20, and Usman’s 44-run knock ended shortly after, both falling to Arif Yaqoob.
