PSB Unveils Massive Prize Money Hike for Medal-Winning Athletes
Asian Games Medal Rewards Doubled: Gold Medalists to Receive Rs15 Million
ISLAMABAD: In a landmark move aimed at boosting morale and incentivizing elite performance, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has unveiled a sweeping increase in prize money for athletes who earn distinction by winning medals in international and national arenas.
The enhanced “Cash Award Policy” was officially approved during the Board’s 34th meeting and is now set to significantly reshape how Pakistan rewards sporting excellence.
Under the revised structure, the most eye-catching update is the Olympic gold medal reward, which has been tripled to Rs30 million, up from the previous Rs10 million. Silver medalists at the Olympics will now receive Rs20 million, while bronze medal winners will take home Rs10 million, both also substantial increases from the Rs7.5 million and Rs5 million previously awarded.
The Asian Games have also seen a major bump, with gold medalists at the Asian Games now pocketing Rs15 million, a notable jump from the former reported Rs7.5 million. Silver and bronze winners will earn Rs7 million and Rs5 million respectively, up from Rs5 million and Rs3 million.
For Commonwealth Games athletes, the gold medal payout now stands at Rs7.5 million, while silver and bronze fetch Rs5 million and Rs3 million, respectively. These amounts mark a clear improvement from earlier rewards of Rs5 million, Rs3 million, and Rs2 million.
PSB’s updated prize money policy is being seen as one of the most comprehensive and generous in South Asia, signaling Pakistan’s renewed commitment to investing in its athletes. By dramatically raising the stakes, the PSB hopes to motivate athletes to perform at the highest level and to ensure they are financially rewarded for doing so.

With the revised policy now in place, Pakistan’s athletes will head into upcoming competitions with more than just national pride on the line.
