Islamabad – In a significant move to reform sports governance across the country, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has announced that no official over the age of 70 will be allowed to hold a position in any national sports federation. The decision was made during the 34th PSB board meeting chaired by Prime Minister’s Advisor on Inter-Provincial Coordination, Rana Sanaullah.
Addressing the meeting, Rana Sanaullah emphasized the need to open sports federations for talented young individuals to promote transparency and merit-based progress in sports administration. He described the age limit policy as essential for providing opportunities to new leadership.
The board meeting passed several important resolutions focusing on improving governance, ensuring transparency, and protecting the rights of young athletes. The PSB also approved sports funding regulations and the pension contributory fund to strengthen the pension system for sports personnel.
As part of the reforms, PSB canceled the initial registration of three federations—Chakball, Paragliding & Hand Gliding, and Canoeing—for failing to submit mandatory documents. Registrations of Basketball, Long Range Shooting, and Archery federations were made conditional on their incorporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. The Archery Federation was also directed to verify its election records with PSB.
The board expressed dissatisfaction with the Pakistan Hockey Federation over its performance and delays in submitting financial reports and funds. The authority to decide on Pakistan’s participation in the International Hockey Federation’s Pro League was delegated to PSB President Rana Sanaullah Khan, who will communicate with the Prime Minister on the matter.
Futsal was officially recognized as a football-related sport and its supervision assigned to the Pakistan Football Federation. The issue of the Blind Sports Federation was referred to the Panel of Adjudicators.
A subcommittee was formed to integrate mountaineering into national sports, while the board appreciated Director General PSB Muhammad Yasir Pirzada’s efforts to prevent age fraud among junior players.

Special invitations will be extended to federation presidents for upcoming meetings to enhance collaboration.
