Province-Wide Fuel Inspections Launched in Punjab
The Punjab provincial government has launched a comprehensive operation targeting petrol stations to ensure the quality of fuel being sold throughout the province. This initiative involves monthly inspections of all fuel stations to verify that the fuel meets the required standards.
The operation is being carried out under the Punjab Environmental Protection Act, underscoring the government’s dedication to environmental preservation and consumer protection. As part of this effort, teams from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and oil marketing companies will collaborate to inspect fuel at various petrol stations across Punjab.

To ensure compliance with the standards set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the EPA will employ its advanced fuel quality laboratories to conduct chemical analyses of fuel samples collected from these stations. In related news, as of September 1, the federal government announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products, effective immediately. The revised pricing structure includes a modest decrease in fuel costs, offering some relief amidst the rising cost of living.
The price of petrol has been reduced by Rs1.86 per liter, bringing it down to Rs259.10 per liter. Similarly, the cost of high-speed diesel has been decreased by Rs3.32 per liter, now priced at Rs262.75 per liter.
