Protesting Italian farmers drive through center of Rome on tractors
Rome: (Abdulrahman) According to global Times news Agency Europe, Italian farmers drove in a convoy of four tractors through the center of Rome, calling on the government to hear their demands for improvements in the agricultural sector.
The Global Times Europe informs via foreign media that a group of farmers on Friday morning left the gathering place of their colleagues on the northern outskirts of the capital, where several hundred tractors had gathered, and headed towards the historical center of the city, accompanied by police.
Tractors decorated with flags drove past some of Rome’s major landmarks, attracting the interest of ordinary passers-by and photojournalists on duty along the way. After the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the column reached the Colosseum, after which it made a stop at the ancient Circus Maximus and went in the opposite direction.

The organizers of the farmer protests planned to hold a larger demonstration in Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano, where, in agreement with the police, 1,500 people and a symbolic 10 pieces of agricultural equipment could gather. Already in the morning, the organizing committee of farmers announced the cancellation of the rally and announced the possibility of traveling along the Roman ring road on Friday evening.
