Protecting Pakistan’s Freedom is Our Greatest Duty: Azma Bokhari

The event ended with national songs, spirited celebrations, and resounding chants of Pakistan Zindabad.

Lahore (By Asif Iqbal) — Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that protecting Pakistan’s hard-earned freedom is the nation’s foremost mission. Speaking at a grand Independence Day concert at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Lahore, she said the country is on a new journey of progress following Operation Bunyān al-Marsūs.

“Our armed forces have not only defeated India on the borders but have also crushed its proxies,” she remarked. Bokhari stressed that every Pakistani must boost the morale of the soldiers defending the homeland.

The event was attended by Provincial Minister Shafay Hussain, Faisal Khokhar, Special Assistant Salma Butt, Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani, DGPR Ghulam Saghir Shahid, Alhamra Chairman Razi Ahmad, and thousands of citizens. Addressing the youth, artists, and participants, Bokhari said, “From gaining independence to protecting it — that is our theme today. This mission must continue at all costs.”

She accused India of attempting to spark conflicts in different parts of Pakistan through its proxies but said the nation had full confidence in its armed forces.

Paying tribute to renowned singer Atif Aslam, Bokhari revealed that despite the recent passing of his father, he expressed his willingness to attend the event out of patriotic spirit. She announced that Atif Aslam would perform again at a special event scheduled for September 6. “Due to overwhelming demand, tickets had been priced for the concert, but respecting public sentiment, all ticket holders will be refunded,” she added.

Bokhari said the Pakistani nation will always remember the sacrifices of its martyrs, whose courage allows the country to celebrate its independence today. She concluded with a prayer for the country’s eternal safety and strength, declaring that the Pakistani nation is “unbeatable and will never bow down.”
