Proposal to Close Lahore Educational Institutions for Three Days to Combat Smog

A proposal has been put forward to close all educational institutions—schools, colleges, and universities—in Lahore on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to help alleviate the city’s severe smog problem.

Additionally, the proposal suggests initiating a “green lockdown” in Gulberg and nearby areas.

Sources reveal that this proposed green lockdown might extend to Liberty, MM Alam Road, and Main Market, as well as areas already under consideration around Shimla Hills.

The Commissioner of Lahore Division and the Secretary of Environment will present these proposals to Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, who holds the final authority to approve the institution closures and the green lockdown in Gulberg.
