President Zardari & Iranian President Pledge to Deepen Bilateral Ties During State Visit

The Iranian President, currently on an official visit to Pakistan, arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr accompanied by a high-level delegation.

IslamabadPresident of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, welcomed Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad today, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

The Iranian President, currently on an official visit to Pakistan, arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr accompanied by a high-level delegation. President Zardari received him at the main entrance, where the two leaders exchanged warm greetings. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was also present on the occasion.

A formal dinner was hosted in honor of President Pezeshkian and his delegation at the presidential palace, followed by a detailed meeting between the two heads of state. During their discussion, the leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments and emphasized the shared religious, cultural, and historical ties that underpin the brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Iran.

President Zardari commended Iran’s principled stance on regional issues and expressed gratitude for Tehran’s unwavering support during challenging times. He also acknowledged Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s support for the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and condemned Israeli aggression against Iran, paying tribute to the courage displayed by the Iranian nation during the recent 12-day conflict.

The leaders highlighted the importance of diplomatic efforts in preventing conflict escalation and maintaining regional peace and stability. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and security domains.

President Zardari expressed hope that President Pezeshkian’s visit would mark a new chapter in Pakistan-Iran relations and contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous region.

Meeting with Senate Chairman

Earlier in the day, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian also met with Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in Islamabad. Discussions focused on strengthening parliamentary ties, regional developments, and enhancing mutual cooperation.

Chairman Gilani praised Iran’s firm stance against Israeli actions and stressed the importance of further deepening relations. President Pezeshkian described Pakistan as a sincere and trusted partner and expressed Iran’s desire to boost economic collaboration.

The meeting was attended by Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Senators Saleem Mandviwalla, Irfan Siddiqui, and MNA Naveed Qamar.

Chairman Gilani concluded that the Iranian President’s visit would significantly strengthen the historic and brotherly relationship between the two nations.
