President Trump Announces $2,000 Dividend for American Citizens from Tariff Revenue

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that American citizens will receive at least $2,000 each from the revenue generated through tariffs.

According to international media reports, President Trump said that the amount will be paid to citizens as a dividend, although high-income earners will not be eligible for the payment.

“We are collecting trillions of dollars and will soon begin paying off our massive $37 trillion debt,” Trump stated. “Every American, except those with high incomes, will receive a minimum of $2,000.”

Reports indicate that the U.S. Supreme Court is currently reviewing the legal basis of the trade tariffs imposed by Trump’s administration. Lower courts had previously ruled several of those tariffs as unlawful.

It is worth mentioning that last month, Trump had suggested in an interview that he planned to distribute between $1,000 and $2,000 to citizens. He had claimed that the tariffs he imposed could generate over $1 trillion in annual revenue for the United States.
