President Barrister Sultan highlights vast investment opportunities in AJK
The business fraternity delegation praised Barrister Sultan’s efforts in advocating the Kashmir issue.
MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has emphasized the abundant investment potential in various sectors of the region. Addressing public representative delegations at Jammu Kashmir House in the federal metropolis, the President extended invitations to potential entrepreneurs nationwide and the UK-based Pakistani Diaspora community to explore the lucrative opportunities available for investment, particularly in the twin industrial districts of Mirpur and Bhimbher.
President Barrister Sultan highlighted the region’s favorable climate and investment-friendly environment, underscoring the private sector’s ability to invest across various sectors in Azad Kashmir. With abundant natural and human resources, he pointed out that around 1.5 million people from Azad Kashmir are employed in Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Stressing the absence of law and order issues in the region and boasting a higher literacy rate than several provinces in Pakistan, he presented Azad Jammu Kashmir as an ideal investment destination.
The proposed Muzaffarabad, Mansehra, and Mirpur motorway, along with the Dry port in the lake view city, was mentioned as a significant development that would further expand the scope of investment in the region.
President Barrister Sultan identified key investment areas in Azad Kashmir, including hydel power generation, tourism, minerals, IT, and small-scale industries. Encouraging investors, he assured them of government support and facilities to facilitate their investments in the region.

Azad Kashmir, with the potential to produce 9 thousand megawatts of electricity, currently generates about 2500 megawatts from various power projects. The President also highlighted the immense tourism potential, citing lush green forests, meadows, snow-clad peaks in the north, and Mangala Lake in Mirpur, ideal for water sports.
