PPP open to forming next government, says Sharmila Farooqui

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Farooqui has indicated that her party is open to forming the next federal government, citing concerns over the performance of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led administration.

She appeared at private news channel program, Farooqui emphasized that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is a prime ministerial candidate with strong support and an unblemished record. She praised Bilawal for his role in negotiating the 26th Constitutional Amendment, describing him as a great leader with a legacy.

Farooqui also responded to comments by former PTI leader Faisal Vawda, who criticized the PML-N as a “bad brand,” and pointed out issues with the current government’s performance, including inflation and the Federal Board of Revenue’s failure to meet targets. She reiterated that while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is working hard, the PPP has concerns, particularly regarding Punjab, where commitments made to the party remain unfulfilled.

She emphasized that if the need for a government change arises, Bilawal would be the PPP’s candidate for prime minister, but added that the party respects Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts.
