Polling Agent Issue: ECP rejects PTI’s petition
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the appeal of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for appointing polling agents at the polling stations from other constituencies.
According to the Election Commission has issued a written decision on the PTI’s petition and declared that the polling agent can only be a voter of the same constituency.
The Commission disposing of the PTI leader Omar Ayub’s petition has stated that no candidate’s polling agent can belong to another constituency.
The Commission also stated in the decision that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to hold fair, transparent and impartial elections so it has issued instructions to the returning officers regarding the appointment of polling agents.
The PTI leader had filed a petition with the Election Commission alleging that polling agents were from another constituency in the by-elections.
