Polio Virus Detected in Environmental Samples Across Nine Districts

Islamabad: Environmental samples from several cities have confirmed the presence of the polio virus, with new cases emerging in one district and eight previously affected areas.

Sewage water samples collected from Dadu, Hyderabad, Karachi (West, South, and Central), Quetta, Loralai, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad between July 1 and 4 tested positive for the polio virus.

Pakistan Launches Massive Anti-Polio Drive Targeting 9.5 Million Children

The National Institute of Health (NIH) reported that the Pakistan Polio Program has conducted six anti-polio campaigns this year, including two nationwide efforts, vaccinating over 4 million children under five in January and February. Despite these efforts, polio virus has been detected in 52 districts across the country this year.
