Police Seize Over 100,000 Fake Degrees From 22 Universities in India

Police Probe Massive Fake Degree Money Laundering

MUMBAI: Kerala Police have uncovered a massive certificate forgery network, seizing over 100,000 fake academic degrees linked to 22 universities and arresting 11 people involved.

The operation revealed that the fraudulent certificates spanned multiple professional fields, including medicine, nursing, and engineering, and were being used to secure jobs across various sectors. Authorities estimate that more than one million fake degrees have already circulated in the job market.

Investigators said individual fake certificates were sold for between Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 400,000, generating substantial illegal profits. The police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on tracking down the larger network behind the forgery operation.
