Police register case against 9 Officers and Civilian Accused of Manipulating 15 Crore Currency Seizure

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have registered a case against nine of their own officials along with a private individual for manipulating a significant amount of seized domestic and foreign currency worth 15 crores.
According to police, the controversy erupted following the arrest of suspects who allegedly looted the FIA AC warehouse. The suspects were apprehended by the Mandira police at a toll plaza while in possession of the stolen currency and other items.
The accused in this high-profile case include the SHO, ASI, seven constables, and a civilian identified as Muhammad Naeem Shahzad. The complaint, lodged by ACC FIA SHO Asfandyar, states that on May 31, the suspects made off with currency valued at approximately 15 crores. However, when the Mandira police reported the seizure, they declared only 47.9 million recovered, raising suspicions of foul play.
Further investigations revealed the Mandira police’s alleged dishonesty, evidenced by the alteration of official records. The accused officers are Inspector Yasir Awan, ASI Imran Muzaffar, and Constables Khizr Hayat, Muzaffar Shah, Shahid Mahmood, Asad Mahmood, Usman, and Mukhtar Hussain.
