Punjab govt committed to supporting families of fallen heroes: CS

Lahore, (Asif Iqbal) The Lahore police organized a solemn and dignified ceremony in connection with Police Martyrs Day at Alhamra Arts Council here on Monday. The event was attended by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, performed by the Lahore Police Orchestra, evoking patriotic fervor among attendees. The Punjab Police Band presented a ceremonial salute to the families of the martyrs, recognizing their enduring sacrifice. Participants paid heartfelt tributes to the fallen heroes of the Punjab Police, acknowledging their unparalleled courage and service.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman said that attending the ceremony was a matter of great pride for him. He emphasized that the peace and stability enjoyed in Punjab today are a direct result of the supreme sacrifices made by police martyrs. He noted that as per the available data, the law and order in the province is exemplary.

Highlighting the provincial government’s commitment to employees’ welfare, the Chief Secretary stated that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has consistently prioritized the well-being of government servants. Reflecting on his tenure, he shared that upon assuming office two and a half years ago, IG Dr. Usman Anwar had briefed him on the pending welfare initiatives for the families of martyred police personnel.

He credited both former caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and current Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for advancing and implementing comprehensive welfare measures for the families of police martyrs. He reaffirmed that the Punjab Government remains fully committed to supporting the families of the fallen heroes in every possible way.

The ceremony was attended by families of the martyrs, senior police officials including CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Additional IGs, DIGs, and other dignitaries. Prominent personalities from the entertainment industry, such as Sohail Ahmed Azizi, Iftikhar Thakur, Syed Noor, and Humaira Arshad, also participated, along with distinguished guests from various walks of life.
