Police Arrest 23 over Blasphemy-Related Violence in Swat

Swat(Hroon Siraj);Police in Swat have apprehended 23 individuals involved in a violent incident in Madin area, where a person accused of blasphemy was burned alive and a police station was set on fire.
Authorities confirmed the arrests and have relocated the suspects to an undisclosed location. The arrested individuals face charges related to attacking the police station and arson, as per the initial case filed against them.
Efforts are underway to apprehend more individuals implicated in the violence, according to police officials.
Yesterday, the Federal Investigation Agency released a detailed report on the Madin incident, revealing critical lapses in handling the situation. The report highlighted that the accused, Suleiman, was taken into custody by local police following allegations of blasphemy. Despite denying the accusations, he was not provided with adequate protection and was held at the police station for 40 minutes.
The report noted that the absence of senior police officers or political leaders during the incident exacerbated the situation, despite police efforts to contain the mob and prevent further damage.
Three days ago, a mob in Madin area seized and brutally attacked an individual accused of blasphemy, ultimately burning him alive. The violence also extended to ransacking and setting fire to the local police station.
