PMLN Azma Bukhari claimed Imran Khan also lied about Banigala road funds

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) Commenting on the disqualification of former prime minister Imran Khan by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toshakhana case, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) Spokesperson Azma Bukhari claimed that the man who would call others ‘thieves and thugs’ at last himself turned out to be ‘corrupt’.

Addressing a press conference at PMLN Secretariat in Model Town, Lahore, she said “it was during Imran’s premiership that people had started asking questions about the gifts he had received from foreign dignitaries. But he failed to prove his innocence.” She alleged that the PTI even threatened the journalist who had first written on the subject.

Furthermore she went on to add that she had sympathies with Imran’s supporters, whom he was befooling. “How on earth can Imran say ‘Mera tuhfa, meri marzi’ (my gift, my choice),” Azma said while referring to the statement made by the PTI chairman in his defence when he was asked about the gifts he had received. “It would have been your property had you not been the country’s prime minister, but an ordinary person,” she reminded.

Moreover PMLN spokesperson said that Imran had lied to his supporters that he had built the road leading to his Banigala residence from his own money. “No, No, it was not he, but the CDA, which had spent money on the road,” she alleged. She said that filing references in the ECP against the lawmakers was not a new phenomenon, and the one sent to the ECP against the former prime minister was as per law, and it was the election commission’s prerogative which reference to take up first.
