PML-N to contest Punjab, KP elections with full force

Nawaz directs mobilise workers for Punjab elections with ‘full force’

Lahore_Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to contest the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces with full force, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A decision to this effect has been taken in a meeting of PML-N senior leadership held here on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Federal ministers, special assistants, and constitutional experts attended the meeting. The prime minister discussed the political situation.

According to the sources, it has been decided in the meeting that elections of the national assembly and Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces will be held at their scheduled time.

The premier held consultations regarding the PML-N’s strategy after the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly. Moreover, he sought recommendations from the PML-N leaders regarding Nawaz Sharif’s return.

The return of the party’s head Nawaz Sharif was also a subject of the discussion. PML-N leaders were of the view Nawaz’s presence in Pakistan is a must if the party has to go into the polls. The political party is facing problems in the absence of senior leadership, they observed.

Speaking to the party leaders, Shehbaz Sharif urged the participants to put up a brave face on the prospect of going into polls and need not be ‘apologetic’.

“We have decided not to become part of the illegal and unconstitutional process of dissolution of the assemblies,” he reiterated.

Prime Minister said that Imran Khan is trying to blackmail the country and the nation but the nation has rejected him.

“Legislatures are with Nawaz Sharif, no one would like to board PTI’s sinking ship.”
