PMDC Announces MDCAT 2025 Date and New Curriculum

The announcement aims to provide clarity and ample preparation time for aspiring medical and dental students across the country.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially announced that the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The decision was revealed during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani.

PMDC officials informed the committee that the MDCAT will be conducted simultaneously across the country to ensure transparency and uniformity. The test is a mandatory requirement for admission to all public and private medical and dental colleges in Pakistan.

In a significant development earlier the same day, PMDC also released the revised curriculum for MDCAT 2025. According to PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj, the updated test format will consist of five subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.

The exam will contain 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with a time duration of three hours. Importantly, the test will not include negative marking. Questions will be divided into levels of difficulty: 15% easy, 70% moderate, and 15% difficult.

As per the updated admission criteria, candidates must secure a minimum of 55% marks to qualify for admission to medical colleges and at least 50% marks for dental colleges.

Dr. Rizwan Taj further stated that PMDC has started developing a comprehensive question bank for the exam. The new curriculum has been prepared with input from academic experts, educational boards, and universities to ensure it meets current educational standards and assessment needs.
