Elected govt to ensure stability; foil attempts to create crises: PM
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that any attempt to enter the red zone by the participants of Imran Khan’s long march will be thwarted in accordance with the law, Shehbaz Sharif said that Imran Niazi is doing a long march to fulfill his nefarious designs.
He said that the coalition government would not let the country go into a political crisis. “Who will benefit from Imran Khan’s bloody march,” he asked.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is willing to cause irreparable damage to the state for the sake of satisfying his ego.
Talking to YouTubers, PM Shehbaz said that Chinese President Xi Jinping was due to visit Pakistan in 2014 to launch the multibillion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but months-long sit-in in Islamabad delayed the visit.
PM Shehbaz, who is due in China on November 1 to sign several agreements, asked what and who would the long march benefit.
The prime minister further stated that he had received backchannel messages from his predecessor over appointment of new Army Chief and date for elections.
But the premier complained that when he was the Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Khan never bothered to consult him over the amendments in the Army Act or the extension to the (COAS).
Shehbaz stressed that constitutionally it is the prerogative of the prime minister and that there is no role of the opposition in the appointment. PM expressed his grief over the tragic death of 146 people in a stampede in Seoul, South Korea.
The prime minister also expressed condolences to the people and government of South Korea.
On his Twitter handle, the prime minister posted, “I am saddened at the tragic death of 146 people in a stampede in Seoul. Our thoughts & prayers are with the government and people of South Korea. ”
Expect everything from the person. Unfortunately, Imran Niazi’s thinking revolves around his personal vested interests. Even he did not spare his close friends who were sidelined,” he added.
The prime minister observed that PTI’s leader even did not spare the institution that had been rendering unmatched sacrifices for the protection of the motherland and was out to malign it to the pleasure of enemies of Pakistan including India.
India was now portraying him (IK) as their hero, he added.
The prime minister said that unfortunately, once again a long march and sit-in was announced by the PTI’s leadership when he would be visiting China and recollected that during Chinese President Xi’s visit in 2013 similar sit-in was staged, adding dirty clothes were hanged on the premises of buildings in the red zone and roads were littered with garbage.
The then Chinese ambassador met PTI chief and requested him to vacate the place for few days during the visit, but he refused. For seven months, the visit was postponed which had also shaken the trust of country’s friends, he added.
