PM Tasks Ministries with Achieving IMF Goals: Information Minister
Atta Tarar mentioned that the Ministry of Interior has been tasked with cracking down on illegal weapons.
Lahore: Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has revealed that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has tasked ministries with fulfilling the objectives set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Atta Tarar stated that yesterday, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, a federal cabinet meeting was held, during which each ministry was given short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals.
He elaborated that the Prime Minister has instructed ministries to undertake tasks according to the objectives set, with each ministry being given realistic targets. Through technology, the performance of ministries will be evaluated, and ministries will be held accountable during cabinet meetings.
The Federal Minister stated that the Prime Minister has set the goal for ministries to fulfill IMF objectives, including reducing inflation, restructuring loans, and digitizing the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Atta Tarar mentioned that the Ministry of Interior has been tasked with cracking down on illegal weapons, while the Ministry of Commerce has been given targets to reduce trade deficits and combat smuggling. Additionally, targets have been set regarding illegal foreign nationals in Pakistan.
He mentioned that a system of self-accountability has been established, directives have been given to establish a modern system for monitoring objectives, and ministries have been informed about objectives in writing for the first time.

The Information Minister revealed that efforts by the Ministry of Finance have led to a stable rupee and rapid growth in the stock market. Efforts will be made to open offices of tech giants like Google, Facebook, and Instagram in Pakistan.
Atta Tarar emphasized that there is a demand for our IT professionals worldwide, and activating facilities like PayPal and bringing a modern digital system to the country are important objectives.
