Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visits Azerbaijan to strengthen strategic ties and celebrate Victory Day.
PM Shehbaz Sharif – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Foreign Office (FO) announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will go to Azerbaijan today for a two-day official visit.
According to the FO, the premier will travel to participate in celebrations commemorating the fifth anniversary of Victory Day, which celebrates Azerbaijan’s victory in liberating its territory from Armenian control.

According to the announcement, PM Shehbaz is visiting Azerbaijan at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev. “During the visit, the prime minister will attend the official Victory Day celebrations and hold a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev,” the spokesman stated.
“Discussions will focus on reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations and identifying new avenues to further deepen cooperation in diverse sectors, including trade and investment, energy, defence, education, and regional connectivity,” it added.
The FO added that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy “long-standing fraternal relations, rooted in shared faith, history, culture, and mutual trust”.
“The visit by the prime minister will reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and to further advance the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations,” the chief of staff said.
The premier had already visited the Central Asian country in May of this year as part of a four-nation tour. He had met with Azerbaijan’s president, and the two had restated their commitment to diversifying the strategic cooperation by investing in mutually advantageous areas.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have returned to Istanbul for additional peace talks.
President Aliyev had also called PM Shehbaz in August and expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh.
