PM Shehbaz Stresses Strong KP Institutions to Combat Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government must further strengthen provincial institutions to effectively combat terrorism.

The prime minister expressed these views during a meeting with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi. During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for close cooperation between the federal and provincial governments to ensure development and prosperity for the people of KP.

According to an official statement, the prime minister termed federal-provincial collaboration essential for maintaining law and order in the province. He said that while the KP government is constitutionally responsible for ensuring peace and public welfare, both the federal and provincial governments would continue joint efforts to completely eliminate terrorism.

The prime minister noted that the KP government is empowered and should take effective measures in key sectors such as health and education to improve public services. He reaffirmed that the federal government has always worked for the betterment of the people of KP and will continue to extend support within its constitutional mandate.

Calling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa an important unit of the federation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that close coordination and effective communication between the federation and provinces are essential for public service delivery. He also assured full federal cooperation, within its jurisdiction, for development projects in the province.

The prime minister further stated that the federal government believes in taking all provinces along on the path of uniform development, adding that national unity, stability and prosperity can only be achieved through consultation and collective efforts.
