Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Embark on Official Visit to China from 4th to 8th June

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China from the 4th to the 8th of June.

Addressing a weekly press conference in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir are a matter of grave concern, emphasizing the need for India to halt its atrocities in the region.

According to the spokesperson, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s five-day official visit to China comes upon the invitation of the Chinese President and other high-ranking officials. During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif will hold meetings with Chinese dignitaries, including President Xi Jinping, and participate in economic forums.

Baloch highlighted that during the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will engage with Chinese counterparts on bilateral matters, fostering discussions on mutual interests and strengthening Pakistan-China relations.

Furthermore, the Foreign Office spokesperson mentioned that Pakistan and Afghanistan have exchanged concerns, with Afghanistan assuring Pakistan of action against elements involved in cross-border terrorism. Pakistan acknowledges that terrorism emanating from Afghanistan poses a threat not only to Pakistan but to global peace as well.

Regarding the Supreme Court’s letter to the British High Commissioner, the Foreign Office clarified that it will not offer any opinion, as the Supreme Court is the highest constitutional authority capable of resolving domestic matters. Foreign diplomats are advised to refrain from commenting on Pakistan’s internal affairs.

Baloch also mentioned that Pakistan has received an invitation to the Ukraine Peace Summit and consultations are ongoing regarding Pakistan‘s participation.

Lastly, regarding the security arrangements for Pakistan’s cricket matches, it is expected that American authorities will provide security to Pakistani players and citizens during the matches.
