PM Shehbaz to Announce Removal of PTV Fee from Electricity Bills

This fee generates approximately Rs. 1.5 billion monthly from electricity users nationwide.

Islamabad— Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to officially announce the removal of the Pakistan Television (PTV) fee from electricity bills, a move aimed at providing relief to electricity consumers across the country.

The decision to eliminate the monthly PTV fee, currently charged at Rs. 35 per consumer, was first reported by 24 News on April 4. This fee generates approximately Rs. 1.5 billion monthly from electricity users nationwide.

By abolishing the PTV fee, the Prime Minister aims to reduce the overall electricity tariff burden on consumers, offering much-needed financial relief amid rising energy costs.

The formal announcement regarding the removal of the PTV fee is expected to be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in an upcoming statement.
