PM Shehbaz Sharif Warns India, Reaffirms Kashmir Support
Peace Possible Only with Equality, Shehbaz Tells India on Kashmir
Muzaffarabad (Web Desk/ Our Correspondent) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reiterated that Pakistan seeks peace in the region but made it clear that sustainable peace can only be achieved on the basis of equality. He warned that if India chooses confrontation, Pakistan will respond in the same manner.
Addressing a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Youm-e-Kashmir, the prime minister said peace in South Asia would remain a distant dream unless India abandons its aggressive policies. He emphasized that the Kashmiri people remain resolute in their struggle and are prepared to make any sacrifice for their right to freedom, noting that voices of resistance continue to rise across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed Across Pakistan
Shehbaz Sharif lauded Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for effectively raising the Kashmir issue at international forums, calling his diplomatic efforts praiseworthy. He also accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan through proxy elements and said Pakistan had inflicted a humiliating defeat on India during the 2025 conflict.
The prime minister paid tribute to the leadership and people associated with the Kashmir freedom movement and expressed sorrow over the passing of former AJK president Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry. He announced the establishment of an Islamabad-style service centre in Muzaffarabad and revealed plans for a state-of-the-art Danish University in the city.
Addressing the session, AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore thanked the people of Pakistan for their continued solidarity with Kashmiris. He said that despite the deployment of around 800,000 Indian troops, the occupying forces had failed to crush the spirit of the Kashmiri people. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s political and military leadership stands firmly with Kashmir and expressed confidence that the sacrifices of the freedom movement would ultimately yield success. He also thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for gifting a Danish school to Azad Kashmir.
