PM Shehbaz Sharif to Oversee FBR Operations

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was expected to monitor the performance of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials today (Saturday).

Sources divulged that the premier had summoned the meeting of the FBR officials. The FBR officials had been asked to reach Model Town in Lahore.

According to the sources, the premier will also be briefed on tax collection.

Separately, it was reported that PM Shehbaz was expected to nominate Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif as the party president in the key huddles, slated to happen next Saturday (May 11).

Sources divulged that the meetings of the party’s central executive committee and core committee had been convened on May 11.

The invitations for the forthcoming meetings had also been issued.

According to the sources, it had not decided yet to change any other organisational posts, with the expectation of the party president post.

Few days, former interior minister Rana Sanaullah said he personally urged Nawaz Sharif to resume his role as the party president.

Separately, PML-N senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, saying, “Everyone wants former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to spearhead the party”.

“Now there is no constitutional obstacle for Nawaz Sharif to become the party president. Nawaz Sharif has been requested to take charge as the party president,” he said.

Ahsan Iqbal calls for uplifting livestock sector

Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stressed on Saturday the need for elevating the livestock sector.

Expressing his thoughts in Islamabad, Iqbal acknowledged the role of the veterinary sciences in contributing to the country’s development. “We are looking forward to addressing the problems faced by the veterinary students,” he added.

He hailed the livestock sectors of New Zealand and Norway. “Why are our dairy and poultry products matching the quality standards of countries like New Zealand and Norway?”

“By increasing production, we can uplift the poultry, dairy, and agricultural sectors,” he said.

Iqbal maintained: “The Higher Education Commission has been asked to bring out the performance audit of the educational institutions.”

– Iqbal vows to complete provincial projects through sharing formula –

Few days back, Iqbal vowed to complete the provincial projects through the sharing formula.

According to details, Iqbal chaired a meeting during which the ongoing and new projects of the National Highway Authority in line with the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) were discussed. On this occasion, Iqbal stressed the need for completing the pending projects by removing any obstacles.

Iqbal had also urged the need to complete the ongoing projects in Balochistan under the PSDP.
