PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets Balochistan Flood-Affected Student Ikramullah Kakar

With continued hard work, I will make Pakistan proud

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Ikramullah Kakar, a student from a remote, flood-affected region of Balochistan, in Islamabad on Sunday, in a heartfelt reunion that reflected the transformative power of opportunity and education.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled his first encounter with Ikramullah in 2022 during a visit to Qila Saifullah, where he had met the young boy in a relief tent. Ikramullah had expressed his desire to pursue higher education, and the Prime Minister had pledged to cover his educational expenses.

Now a student at Lawrence College on a scholarship granted by the Prime Minister, Ikramullah has secured third position in the Rawalpindi Board’s matriculation exams. Overjoyed at his success, PM Shehbaz invited him to the capital to commend his achievement.

“I remember you clearly – you wore a black shalwar kameez that day and told me there were no schools in your area, and that children had to travel far for education. Today, seeing your hard work pay off fills my heart with pride,” said the Prime Minister.

Ikramullah, in return, expressed gratitude, recalling his earlier promise to the PM that he would secure a top position. “Last time I promised to earn a position, and I kept my word. Today, I came to fulfill that promise,” he said emotionally.

The student further added, “You gave a boy from a backward region a chance to study in one of the country’s top institutions. I worked hard, earned a double scholarship, and now I want to repay this nation by serving it.”

Ikramullah shared his aspirations of pursuing CSS and studying at Oxford University, saying, “My dream has always been to study at Oxford. With continued hard work, I will make Pakistan proud.”

The Prime Minister praised Ikramullah’s determination and assured him that such stories prove that with support and dedication, no dream is too big.

“Your teachers, your parents, and above all your efforts have brought you this far. This is Allah’s blessing. I was only a means,” PM Shehbaz remarked.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister presented Ikramullah with a special gift to support his academic journey and practical life. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Ikramullah’s parents, and his teachers were also present on the occasion.
