PM Shehbaz Sharif Honors UN Peacekeepers on International Day

Prime Minister Sharif paid special tribute to Pakistani peacekeepers, whose contributions to global peace and security have been widely recognized.

Islamabad:  On the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound gratitude and admiration for the sacrifices and services of United Nations peacekeepers worldwide. This annual observance highlights the critical role UN peacekeeping missions play in establishing and maintaining peace and protecting civilians in conflict zones.

In his message, Prime Minister Sharif paid special tribute to Pakistani peacekeepers, whose contributions to global peace and security have been widely recognized. Over the past 64 years, Pakistan has sent 230,000 military personnel, including over 500 female peacekeepers, to serve in UN missions. The Prime Minister highlighted the nation’s pride in their outstanding contributions and honored the memory of the 181 Pakistani peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

“Pakistan joins the international community in honoring the sacrifices and services of UN peacekeepers. We owe special gratitude to our Pakistani peacekeepers, whose stellar contributions to global peace and security have been acknowledged by all,” stated Prime Minister Sharif. “The nation will forever remain in eternal debt to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of global peace and security.”

Ahsan Iqbal Honored by Asian Productivity Organization for Socio-Economic Contributions

Islamabad, May 29, 2024 (APP) — Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, has been honored by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for his outstanding contributions to socio-economic development. The award was presented at the 66th meeting of the APO Governing Body in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which includes 21 member countries, including Pakistan.

Prof. Ahsan Iqbal was recognized for his significant achievements during his tenures as a federal minister, where he implemented innovative projects to enhance productivity in Pakistan through international networks. His efforts in formulating progressive policies and regulations have substantially contributed to Pakistan’s productive agenda and overall development.

The Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives issued a press release highlighting that the award celebrates individuals who have made exemplary contributions to improving national or regional socio-economic productivity through their work, inspiring ideas, and influence.
