PM Shehbaz Sharif Holds One-on-One Meeting with Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim in Islamabad
Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday. The two leaders engaged in detailed and productive discussions in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Their talks covered a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual concern, including challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah. They also explored ways to enhance cooperation between their countries, with a focus on achieving practical outcomes.
Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated Anwar Ibrahim on Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. In response, the Malaysian leader expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing engagement with ASEAN as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner and voiced support for deepening this relationship and increasing Pakistan’s role within ASEAN.
Both leaders reaffirmed the strong historical ties between their nations and emphasized their commitment to further strengthening this partnership. They highlighted the importance of dialogue and exchanges at various levels and stressed the role of mechanisms such as the Joint Ministerial Commission and Bilateral Consultations to deepen cooperation.
Warm Welcome for Malaysian PM at PM House
Upon his arrival at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a warm reception from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who greeted him at the entrance. The national anthems of both nations were played, followed by an inspection of the guard of honour by a well-presented contingent of the Pakistani Armed Forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz introduced his cabinet members to the visiting leader, while Anwar Ibrahim introduced his delegation to the Pakistani Prime Minister. The Malaysian Prime Minister also planted a commemorative sapling at the Prime Minister House as part of his visit.
