ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the formation of the Army Rocket Force Command, declaring it a major step in enhancing Pakistan’s strategic defense capabilities. The announcement was made during a grand ceremony in Islamabad, marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day and celebrating the country’s triumph in the recent “Battle of Truth” against India.

Addressing the ceremony at Jinnah Ground, the Prime Minister said, “This new force will further strengthen our national defense and operational readiness.” He congratulated the nation on the completion of 78 years of independence and praised the armed forces for their valor in defeating Indian aggression in what he called a historic battle.

“Pakistan taught India a lesson in this battle that will be remembered by their future generations. It proved that we are fully capable of protecting our sovereignty,” said PM Shehbaz.

He emphasized that the recent conflict was not just a military confrontation but a reaffirmation of the Two-Nation Theory and the sacrifices made by the forefathers of the nation.

India Forgot Wars Aren’t Won by Weapons Alone

PM Shehbaz recounted how India attacked Pakistan under false pretenses, assuming its military superiority would ensure victory. “India forgot that wars are not won by weapons alone but by brave sons who are ready to sacrifice their lives,” he added.

He praised the leadership of Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, stating that their strategic vision and courage led Pakistan to a swift and decisive victory in just four days.

A Nation Forged Anew

The Prime Minister likened the recent victory to a national rebirth:

“Just as 14 August 1947 gave birth to a free state, 10 May 2025 marked the emergence of a new, resolute nation.”

He also reiterated that Pakistan’s nuclear program is entirely defensive, designed to maintain balance in the face of India’s nuclear capability.

Acknowledgment of Allies and Global Support

PM Shehbaz extended his gratitude to Pakistan’s international allies, including China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, UAE, Iran, and Azerbaijan, for their diplomatic support during the conflict. He also thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump for his team’s constructive role in facilitating a ceasefire and urged him to support the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.

Call for National Unity and Political Stability

He invited all political parties to join the “Charter of Stability for Pakistan”, stating it is not only an economic pact but a national interest imperative. He warned against allowing any form of anarchy or violence under the guise of political protest.

“Everyone has the right to protest, but not to incite rebellion or chaos. The state will not allow any such threat to grow,” he warned.

Grand Independence Day Ceremony in Islamabad

The national ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. Military bands and units from the Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, Rangers, and FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in an impressive march-past. Special units from Türkiye and Azerbaijan also joined the parade.

President Asif Ali Zardari, PM Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Asim Munir stood in salute as the national flag was raised.

Highlights of the event included aerial displays by the Pakistan Air Force, performances by SSG commandos, and cultural presentations. The crowd passionately chanted “Pakistan Zindabad” throughout the proceedings.
