PM Shehbaz Increases Ramadan Relief Package to Rs. 12.5 Billion
Enhanced Monitoring Ensures Fair Distribution of Affordable Food Items for Ramadan.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has increased the volume of the Ramadan Relief Package from Rs. 7.5 billion to Rs. 12.5 billion.
According to details, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a special package for the people during the blessed month of Ramadan. In addition to increasing the volume of the Ramadan Relief Package, the scope of coverage has also been expanded.
Utility stores and the Unique Income Support Program will provide food and drink items at discounted prices, reaching as many deserving individuals as possible. Initial measures include establishing 1,200 mobile points and 300 permanent relief centers. From the first day of Ramadan until its conclusion, essential items will be provided at low prices from the general market.
Trucks will distribute affordable food items to the poor in various areas, and the allocation of funds will be digitally monitored using advanced technology. Special videos will be released for guidance on using mobile apps, and a dashboard will be set up for monitoring flour sales to mobile units. Continuous supervision will ensure the fair distribution of flour and other goods. Approximately 39.6 million families will benefit from affordable food and drink items during Ramadan.

Under the Unique Income Support Program, items such as flour, rice, lentils, ghee, sugar, syrup, and milk will be provided at discounted rates from the market. Qualified individuals will receive a 30% discount on food and drink items from the market under the Ramadan Relief Package. It should be noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the Ramadan Relief Package worth Rs. 7.5 billion on March 7, 2024.
Shehbz finalises cabinet, with many familiar faces returning
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has finalised the names of his cabinet with many familiar faces set to return.
Sources told Aaj News on Sunday that the cabinet is likely to have 12 to 14 members and will include both ministers and advisors. Multiple ministries will be helmed by a combination of advisor and minister.
Muhammad Aurangzeb will be advisor on finance, while caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar will return as special assistant.
After falling out of the race of finance minister, Ishaq Dar is likely to head the foreign affairs ministry. Jalil Abbas Jilani will work as advisor on foreign affairs.
Atta Tarar will be minister for information, Khawaja Asif will be minister for defence and Ahsan Iqbal will be minister for planning.
Mohsin Naqvi is likely to be made advisor for interior while Fawad Hassan Fawad, Umar Saif, Ahad Cheema will also join the cabinet despite serving in the caretaker cabinet.
Saad Rafique, Pervaiz Malik, Khurram Dastgir and Amir Muqam will also join the cabinet from the PMLN.
The Muttahid Qaumi Movement will also get two ministries which will likely go to Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal.
The cabinet will take oath on Monday after Asif Zardari is sworn in as president.
