RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers for the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during the ongoing protests were offered today at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi. The martyrs—Naik Muhammad Ramzan (47 years old, from District Karak), Sepoy Gulfam Khan (29 years old, from District Rawalpindi), and Sepoy Shah Nawaz (33 years old, from District Sibi)—were honored in a solemn ceremony attended by prominent officials and military leaders.

Among those present at the funeral were Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Minister of Information, and General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff. Senior serving military and civilian officials also paid their respects to the fallen heroes.

Speaking at the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the violence and unrest that led to the deaths of these brave personnel, stating, “Pakistan cannot afford any chaos and bloodshed for achieving vested political purposes. These acts of violence are unacceptable and highly condemnable, and they are pushing the limits of restraint by our Law Enforcement Agencies.”

The Prime Minister further expressed the nation’s gratitude, saying, “The entire nation stands in solidarity with the families of the martyred Rangers soldiers and all those police officials who have embraced martyrdom, as well as those who are injured during these riots. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten.”

Following the funeral, the bodies of the martyrs were taken to their respective hometowns, where they will be laid to rest with full military honors, in recognition of their service to the nation.

The deaths of Naik Muhammad Ramzan, Sepoy Gulfam Khan, and Sepoy Shah Nawaz have deeply saddened the nation, underscoring the risks faced by law enforcement officers who are working tirelessly to restore peace and order. Their sacrifices are a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the country in maintaining law and order amidst political unrest.

Four Pakistan rangers martyred during pti protest

At least four Pakistan Rangers personnel were martyred and five others, including policemen, injured after miscreants deliberately ran over security officials with a vehicle on Srinagar Highway during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest.

The protests, which began on November 24, demand the release of PTI’s founder from Adiala Jail. According to security sources, 25 policemen have been martyred, and over 100 others injured as the demonstrations have turned violent. The situation intensified on Monday night when a PTI rally, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, entered Islamabad for a high-stakes ‘do-or-die’ protest. Convoys from Hazara, DI Khan, and Balochistan joined Gandapur’s motorcade at the Hakla interchange, with PTI leader Bushra Bibi and other senior officials also present. In response to the violence, the Pakistan Army was deployed under Article 245 of the Constitution, with shoot-at-sight orders issued to restore order.

Earlier in the day, attempts to negotiate between government representatives, including Amir Muqam, Ayaz Sadiq, and Mohsin Naqvi, and PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz, and Barrister Gohar failed, further exacerbating the tense situation. As the protests continue to disrupt the capital, Islamabad faces a critical security challenge, with both the government and PTI struggling to find common ground.
