“Above all, we must pay tribute to the Palestinian people, who have suffered unparalleled losses that must never be repeated,” he said.

Islamabad — Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has praised the agreement between Hamas and Israel on the first phase of the Gaza peace plan, calling it a historic opportunity to establish lasting peace in the Middle East.

Taking to social media platform X, he said the announcement would end the genocide in Gaza.

He highlighted that the leadership of US President Donald Trump throughout the dialogue and negotiation process reflects his unwavering commitment to global peace.

Prime Minister Sharif also commended the tireless efforts of the determined and wise leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in securing the agreement.

“Above all, we must pay tribute to the Palestinian people, who have suffered unparalleled losses that must never be repeated,” he said.

He expressed deep concern over the recent provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and strongly condemned them. He urged the world to hold the occupiers and illegal settlers accountable and to prevent any further actions that could undermine President Trump’s remarkable efforts to reduce tensions and pave the way for lasting peace.

“We will continue to work with our partners, friends, and brotherly countries to ensure that peace, security, and dignity for the Palestinian people are established in accordance with their aspirations and United Nations resolutions,” he added.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that both Israel and Hamas had signed off on the first phase of his peace plan.

On the Truth Social network, Trump said: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means all hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will begin withdrawing its troops to an agreed line as the first step toward a strong, sustainable, and everlasting peace.”

The agreement, expected to be signed on Thursday, includes the release of prisoners and hostages, as well as increased humanitarian aid to Gaza following over two years of devastating conflict. The military campaign by Tel Aviv was launched after Hamas’s October 2023 attack on Israel.
