ISLAMABAD: In a bid to elevate Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) sector and attract foreign investment, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar chaired the 5th meeting of the Board of Governors of the Special Technology Zones Authority, revealing substantial progress in the government’s efforts.
During the session, PM Kakar underscored the significant headway already achieved in fostering foreign investment in the IT sector, emphasizing the pivotal role it could play in fortifying the country’s economy. He directed authorities to formulate essential policies geared towards enticing international IT experts to contribute to Pakistan’s burgeoning IT landscape.
Recognizing Pakistan’s vast potential in the IT domain, PM Kakar expressed optimism about the sector’s ability to become a cornerstone of economic development. The meeting delved into various issues associated with the Special Technology Zones Authority, endorsing decisions from the previous session.
Among the key developments, the meeting approved the restructuring of the finance, audit, and technical committees of the Board of Governors, signaling a streamlined approach to governance within the Authority. Additionally, the gathering gave the green light to the presentation of drafts related to the Authority’s licensing framework, procedures, and regulatory guidelines before the technical committee for further refinement.
