Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN calls on PM Kakar

ISLAMABAD: In a proactive move towards bolstering Pakistan’s international standing and fostering economic collaborations, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar met with Pakistan’s Ambassadors in the United States and the United Kingdom, urging them to identify new avenues for the country’s economic engagements on the global stage.

During the meeting with Ambassador Masood Khan in the US and Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Faisal in the UK, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the significance of constant advocacy for the Kashmir cause and reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the Palestine issue. The envoys briefed the prime minister on the performance of their respective missions, receiving further instructions on Pakistan’s foreign policy.

Prime Minister Kakar directed the envoys to actively promote road shows aimed at attracting foreign investment for projects initiated under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). The move aligns with Pakistan’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and stimulating economic growth.

Recognizing overseas Pakistanis as a national asset, Prime Minister Kakar urged the envoys to prioritize addressing the challenges faced by expatriates and to encourage them to invest their capital back into Pakistan. This approach reflects the government’s dedication to leveraging the potential of the Pakistani diaspora for the country’s economic development.

The directives from the caretaker prime minister underscore a holistic strategy, combining diplomatic efforts, economic outreach, and engagement with the diaspora, showcasing Pakistan’s commitment to fostering international collaborations and ensuring the welfare of its citizens abroad.

During the meeting, the prime minister appreciated Munir Akram for effectively representing Pakistan’s position on the Palestine issue at the platform of United Nations.

He directed Munir Akram to frequently highlight Pakistan’s position on the Kashmir issue in the United Nations. “Identifying opportunities for the economic welfare of the country at international level should be the first priority of all diplomatic representatives of Pakistan,” the prime minister added. Meanwhile, Munir Akram informed the prime minister about the performance of his mission and took instructions from him with respect to the foreign policy.
