PM announces three-year deal to offer Rs22.98/unit electricity to business and agriculture sectors.

Roshan Maeeshat Bijli Package aims to reduce electricity costs, strengthen industries and agriculture, and drive Pakistan’s long-term economic stability.

PM – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced the Roshan Maeeshat Bijli Package (Roshan Economy Power Package) to boost Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural growth. The announcement was made in Islamabad during a meeting with leading business figures and experts from both sectors.

Under this new initiative, industries and farmers will get additional electricity at a reduced rate of Rs.22.98 per unit for the next three years, until October 2028. The government aims to lower the high electricity costs that have long burdened these sectors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif explained that the current cost of Rs.34 per unit for industries will be significantly cut, allowing them to use more power at lower rates. Similarly, the agricultural sector, which currently pays Rs.38 per unit, will also benefit from cheaper electricity and increased supply.

He praised Energy Minister Owais Leghari and his team for their dedicated efforts in designing this supportive package. The prime minister emphasized that industrial and agricultural growth are vital for Pakistan’s economic progress, job creation, and overall prosperity. He said the government is committed to improving regional competitiveness and making business operations easier and more efficient.

Reflecting on last year’s package, he shared that industries and the agriculture sector used an additional 410 gigawatts of electricity, which helped boost production, increase exports, and generate more jobs. This success inspired the government to expand the initiative for the coming years.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged that the path from economic crisis to stability has been difficult, but credited the economic team and key stakeholders for their cooperation and hard work. He expressed hope that strong growth in industry and agriculture will reduce Pakistan’s dependence on loans and lead the country toward lasting financial independence.
