AJK PM vows job quota for disabled, promises education, loans, and skills training

“Prime Minister Prioritizes Training, Legal Rights, and Support Services for Visually Impaired Individuals”
Islamabad (SHOAIB MEHMOOD): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, has underscored the importance of individuals with disabilities harnessing their strengths to contribute significantly to societal progress. The government will ensure a 5% job quota for special individuals in public sector employment, said the Prime Minister, highlighting the commitment to enhancing economic participation.
Addressing a delegation from the Azad Kashmir Association of the Blind at the Jammu Kashmir House in Islamabad, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq discussed various initiatives aimed at empowering and supporting individuals with disabilities. He mentioned that the government had received and processed 174 requests for Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Accreditation Cards for foreign media representatives and their associated Pakistani staff.
Under the auspices of the Brotherhood Program, the Prime Minister disclosed plans to include special individuals in the Youth Employment Scheme, extending loans to unemployed youth. Individuals with disabilities play diverse roles in societal affairs, contributing to social harmony and participating in various sectors through hard work and educational endeavors.
Expressing admiration for the resilience and determination of the disabled community, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq reassured the delegation of the government’s commitment to their welfare. He acknowledged their significant role in societal development and pledged support for their educational endeavors, including providing Braille teaching aids and assistance.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s focus on training in employment or skills development, ensuring the protection of legal rights for visually impaired individuals. Social workers and support services will be provided for special individuals, with special attention to the needs of their families. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of promoting positive interactions between the general public and individuals with disabilities to enhance their well-being.
During the meeting, the school principal extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit the school, which he graciously accepted. The visit is expected to further underscore the government’s commitment to the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities in various facets of society.
